SHOWCASING SKILLS & APPLIED LEARNING

SHOWCASING SKILLS & APPLIED LEARNING

by Skills Ready Team / Wednesday, 10 January 2018 / Published in NEWS

Showcase Events are produced in partnership with schools and educators to bring industry professionals into shop classes. These events provide a great opportunity for students to pitch their design-build process and demonstrate their skills.

Construction Ready Showcase Events are one of our favourite ways to connect industry members with youth and the teachers that help to guide them as they develop their skills through applied learning.

Just prior to the holiday break we held a Showcase Event for the Grade 11/12 Carpentry & Joinery Class at Salmon Arm Secondary. They completed some fantastic projects and we have shared a few pictures for you below.

After the event Mr. Booth of Salmon Arm Secondary shared, “It was amazing to have such high caliber, local tradespeople connecting with our students in such a positive way. I really liked the open house ‘casual’ format – it worked perfectly in our shop, and was a great way for people to see what we’re doing with our young people in the program.”

Thank you to Mr. Booth, the students and industry partners for helping to create this great experience!
