November 7, 2022 (Kelowna, BC) – Women in Trades students from School District 23 and Okanagan College received a behind-the-scenes tour with Konquer Custom Rods and Motorcycles.
The Women in Trades programs, funded through Skilled Trades BC, offer women a supportive training environment where they can explore a variety of trades while also learning valuable construction and technology skills.
With over seven skilled trades professions in action on any given day, Kelowna’s Konquer Custom Rods offered future tradeswomen a chance to see a variety of trades in action–from welding and metal fabrication to electrical and automotive repair.
The students were thrilled to talk about their future career aspirations and seeing the artistry that was involved in the custom work provided by Konquer Custom Rods was particularly exciting.
“I had no idea that vehicle restoration was such an art form,” shared one student. “I’m considering specializing in one of the autobody trades – if I hadn’t been here today, I might not have known this was an option for me.”
The tour, facilitated by Marketing Manager of Konquer Custom Rods and Motorcycles, Tim Allan, is something him and Konquer were more than happy to accommodate.
“Opening our doors to future industry leaders is a no-brainer for us. We love what we do and when this opportunity came up, we jumped at the chance to share our trades with these exceptional young women,” shared Allan.
At the end of the day, the students left with valuable advice and tips shared by the staff at Konquer.
